I would like to give a SUPER THANK YOU to the numerous amazing Elk members who volunteered the last 3 months to service all the greenskeeper’s riding and hand held equipment, clean and organize the shop, and update the greenskeeper’s house.  Volunteers worked over 250 hours to accomplish these much-needed projects.

I will try to remember everyone involved in these projects and give them their due credit.  This was a supreme example of how our members were willing to give their time and skills to make our lodge a better place.  I would like to thank the following volunteers.

Pat Dollar and his Spence Hardware super crew for servicing all the green keeper’s riding and hand held equipment.  They cleaned and organized the shop area so it is now a great place to work.  You guys are the best!

Ben McGuckin purchased, removed and installed new kitchen cabinets with a beautiful counter top and back splash.  He installed a new door for the kitchen.  He helped Wayne remove the floor in the office and disposed of all the materials.  He also removed the goat shed in the back yard during a snow storm.

Travis Lambert, our super electrician added new lighting throughout the house.  The key areas were the kitchen, all the bedrooms, and the office area.  He installed a new (much needed) vent in the bathroom by cutting through the concrete ceiling.  He also installed electricity for the new dishwasher.  (Did I mention he added new lighting in the lodge bar? )

Bart Schumacher, our expert painter, supervised the crew that painted the living room, kitchen and office area of the house.  He also painted all the ceilings and major areas which was a big deal.  We “let” him do the bathroom upstairs by himself.  Bart was instrumental in getting Jake of Sherwin Williams  to donate 5 gallons of paint for the project.

Larry Cyganovich and Wayne Krauss sanded and refinished the living room wood floor (a 3 day project) that looks fantastic.  We think it was the original wood floor from 100 years ago.  They also built a new food pantry in the kitchen that was much needed.  Wayne also worked very hard on the office floor to prep it for the new flooring provided by Barry Keys and Superior Floors.  The floor is the same material we put in the lodge bar area.

Kevin Peterson and Howard Hughes provided the house with a new oven and a dishwasher.  He also helped paint the house and did numerous other projects.  Anne Peterson came in one day and cleaned up the yard and cleaned the windows with Kevin.

Cheri Curtis was my painting buddy every day and did a great job of helping clean the house.  She also donated her washer and dryer for the house.

Gail Krauss was one of the main crew members who painted daily and kept everything clean as we messed up the house while working.  She also was our food provider with cookies, water and sandwiches.  Bobbi Ross came in a couple of times to help clean and paint trim in the living room.

I would be remiss if I did not mention that besides the labor provided by a number of our members, they “adjusted” their material and labor bills to the lodge.  These major discounts were the main reason we could afford to complete these projects.  I would like to thank you for giving so much of yourselves to our lodge.

So, once again, thank you all so much for everything you have done for our lodge.  I am very proud of all of us!
