Brigadier-General Edward R. Chrisman

  • Served in United States Army for 45 years,
  • organized first Military Science Department at the University of Idaho,
  • introduced the first women’s military program in the nation,
  • fought in Cuba (including battle of San Juan Hill) and the Philippines during the Spanish American War,
  • served in the Philippines during the Philippine Insurection,
  • awarded United States Army Silver Star
  • had his ashes scatted over the University of Idaho campus from an airplane after his death and
  • is on the B. P. O. E. #249 wall of remembrance
