Moscow Elks Golf Course — May of 1952

On the 14th of May,1952, Marilynn Smith, one of the outstanding women golfers of all time, played an exhibition round at the Moscow Elks Golf Course.  At 23, she had just turned professional less than two years before as one of the founding members of the Ladies’ Professional Golf  Association.

She went on to win 23 tournaments, including two majors over the next 18 years before retiring in 1972 at the age of 43 to become a commentator on television broadcasts of the PGA tour.  She was president of the LPGA for two years and is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
