Message from the Exalted Ruler
March is here and this is my last newsletter as the Exalted Ruler. Hard to believe two years have gone by, but it is time for someone else (Travis Mechling) to take over. I have enjoyed my time and having the opportunity to serve and lead the Lodge. I have been very fortunate to have worked with members that have helped make improvements to the lodge and to the golf course. We will be putting in a fire pit this spring and expanding the lower putting green. One of my goals was to increase lodge activities, which we have, and to serve our community. However, we need to continue to build upon our work. I have done a lot of reflection this past month as my father, who was an Elk, just passed away. He was never an officer or a Trustee. He chose to participate as a member but he always found a way to help out. I would like to encourage all of you to get involved in something with the Lodge. We have so many different committees in which one can find an interest and help out. Please consider it.
Speaking of volunteers, as a way to thank all the volunteers, I am having the Second Annual Volunteer Dinner on March 24 for all those who participated in one of our events as a way to show my appreciation for all those who stepped up. Keep reading in the newsletter to learn about the Easter Egg Hunt. Finally, last month I thanked a lot of the members who supported me during my time as Exalted Ruler. I wanted to end by thanking my family – Geri, Brendan, and Peyton Jo for allowing me to have this opportunity which at times took me away from being with them. There has always been a way to include kids in the work we do with the Lodge and I hope we will continue to do so. Thank you all, I appreciated my time.
