From the Desk of the Secretary
The New Year is upon us, Thanksgiving and Christmas are now past memories. So, what does 2019 look like for us? On a personal basis, the older I get, the more I realize the only thing I can control is how I react to what ever situation I am faced with. It helps if I ask myself “what kind of response do I expect from the comments I make”? My personal goal is to respond to problems in a calm constructive and firm manner, always trying to elicit a positive response. Do I always succeed? Of course not, occasionally my mouth still starts running before my brain gets in gear— but I’m working on it!
OK, enough of the philosophical side of this letter. Elmer Hanson, did Jerry tell you that you would have been $550 richer had you come to Lodge on the 12th? Your name was drawn from the Pot of Gold but you had to be there to win—sorry bud 😉. We had a nice Memorial Service on Dec. 2nd for our members that passed away this year—“Elks are never forgotten, never forsaken”. We also had our annual “Cocoa with Santa” for the kids and the Tom and Jerry Party on the 12th. There were also a couple of private parties, so December was fairly active for the winter time.
We initiated two new members at the meeting of the 12th, welcome Jim and Justin Parkins, sponsored by Gerry Parkins. We have two more members awaiting initiation in January.
We are still working on our Delinquent Member list. We still have 20 members that have not paid their dues. I hope we do not loose them as that will be a big hit to our membership!
Have a great January. Stay tuned for announcements this month and don’t forget the annual Crab Feed is February 16th—more info to follow on that.
